Holistic HICAT therapies address the person as a whole interconnected being and avoid dividing people into physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual.
Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapy provides a flexible, effective, evidence-based toolbox where the therapies are used individually or in combination with one or more other therapies, to provide a process of self-expression, self-development, self-understanding, self-empowerment, and healthy self-image.
Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapy is a multimodal approach to therapy. It can include:
Art / Drawing / Painting / Craft / Drama / Music / Movement / Dance / Sound / Storytelling / Writing / Journaling / Sculpture / Sand-play, and any other activity which engages the person’s creativity.
A person is not required to have any artistic ability to use or benefit from Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapy.
Each of these approaches has been applied in psychotherapy and counseling with individuals of all ages.
